Plum is the common name of some tree species whose fruit is eaten in the genus Prunus of the rose family.
In Turkey, it grows everywhere except for the high plateau region of the Eastern Anatolia Region and some of the arid and very hot parts of the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
Early life plum is followed by Japanese plum (P. salicina), which ripens in mid-summer.
European plum (P. domestica), which begins to ripen in August, can be eaten until October.
The thin peel of the fruits of different shapes and sizes of the plum, which ripened in different periods, is green, yellow, red and purple colors according to the species.
The most well-known plum varieties in Turkey are can plum, priest plum, elderberry plum and sweet uryani plum.
